Monuments Thomas Parr is one of the historical attractions in Bengkulu. It is adjacent to Fort Marlborough, only about 170 m to the southeast. Obelisk-shaped monument with an area of 70 square meters and 13.5 meters high was built by the British government in 1808 to commemorate the Resident Thomas Parr who was killed by the people of Bengkulu.
Thomas Parr (1805-1807) was the ruler of England to forty-nine notoriously vile and cruel. He was appointed by the British government to replace Deputy Governor Walter Ewer (1800-1805). During his reign, Thomas Parr apply a cultivation system to open a coffee plantation in Bengkulu. Could no longer count how many casualties were floated during the forced cultivation.
Until one day, the people of Bengkulu hatred could no longer containable. On an evening, precisely on December 23, 1807, the people of Bengkulu rollicking stormed Mount Felix, Thomas Parr rest house (now the Home Office of the Governor or the County), certainly with the intention to kill the resident. On that fateful night, the resident who did wrong was eventually killed in a way that is pathetic. Beheaded and paraded around the town by the people of Bengkulu.
For the incident, the British Government did not take silence. In retaliation, the British army and the vile act blindly, destroying villages and killing any residents met. Not only that, the animals did not survive the British soldiers who lost control.

Privileged Monuments Thomas Parr can be viewed from two aspects, namely physical aspects of the building and its history. Judging from the physical aspects, features Thomas Parr Monument can be seen from the unique architecture. The obelisk-shaped monument berdenah 8 and has a Corinthian-style pillars (round like a block of wood that implies that the building looks solid and authoritative). The entrance is on the front and right and left sides, perfect arch shape and has no door. On one wall in a room inside the monument there is an inscription, but at this moment was unreadable because it is damaged. The top of the monument has a dome-shaped roof.
The value of history attached to this monument is to remind people of Indonesia on the contribution of the people of Bengkulu in ousting the British colonizers of the archipelago. The monument is by the people of Bengkulu Bulek called the graveyard is a symbol of struggle and unity in defending ancestral land rights and independence from British colonial oppression.
